Reúso é palavra de ordem na Replan desde que a refinaria começou um projeto para reduzir o consumo de água e a geração de efluentes, em 1999. O trabalho continua em andamento, mas já tem resultados expressivos. Nos últimos seis anos, o volume de efluentes caiu de 785 m³ por hora para 550 m³/h – cerca de 30%. A redução é ainda mais significativa se for considerado que no período o volume de petróleo processado pela refinaria aumentou quase 20%, indo de 296 mil barris por dia para 351 mil b/d.
